Chinese New year celebrations kicked off this week with the sounds of Chinese music playing in the background, Chinese influenced colouring pages, pasting red crepe paper blossoms onto branches and process cooking preparing, cooking and tasting delicious dumplings and fried rice. We are so blessed to have Whaea May who brings with her a wealth of cultural knowledge, thank you for sharing your beautiful culture with us. I would also like to acknowledge Kalei’s whanau and extended whanau Aunty Alice for the beautiful pictures and stories of how they as a family celebrate Chinese New Year. Tomorrow we are having a dress in red or something new day, we look forward to seeing everyone in their best Red. ‘Wishing you and your family a prosperous lunar New year’. Arohanui, your Chrysalis kaiako.
