About Us

Our Philosophy

Meaningful Learning Experiences

We acknowledge the dual heritage of Aotearoa and uphold the spirit and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, fostering an environment where tamariki/children experience values, traditions and the many languages that make up our bi-cultural and multi-cultural Centre.

Manaakitanga / Respect

We pride ourselves in building respectful and reciprocal relationships with tamariki/children, whanau/families, kaiako/teachers and the wider hapori whānui/community.

We create a warm, inclusive, stimulating, and nurturing environment to support tamariki/children reach their full potential.

Whanaungatanga / Family connection

Our practices and environment compliment the home, giving tamariki/children, kaiako/teachers, whanau/families and the community/hapori whānui a sense of belonging. We do this by valuing and celebrating diverse cultures, languages, and identities.

Kaitiakitanga / Guardianship

Our unique outdoor surroundings enable tamariki/children to explore and discover their natural taiao/world. We foster their knowledge of how to care for it and to ensure it is sustainable.

Our Philosophy is drawn from Te Whāriki, the Early Childhood Curriculum. These guiding principles include empowerment of tamariki/children, holistic development, recognising whanau/family and hapori whānui/community as intergral in every tamati’s development, and understanding that tamariki learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships.  our curriculum provides a rich learning environment where minds are engaged and inspired.

Children’s voices are listened to and child-initiated play and enquiry into the world around them is acknowledged and encouraged by Kaiako.

He taonga te mokopuna, kia whangia, kia tipu, kia rea.
A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish.

Whanau Involvement

Each child has ownership of their own profile displayed in the child’s room, available for parents to view and contribute to. We like to encourage family involvement to ensure we have a collaborative approach with the whānau.
